Based on Linguistic Landscape research, the LingLand project will implement measures to strengthen bilingualism of the Slovakian-Hungarian border region in three target areas: tourism, hospitality industry and commerce. The project will develop Linguistic Landscape policy framework and implement policy measures as part of a pilot project.

The indirect objectives of the project are to improve the level of bilingualism, cross-border communication, cross-border cooperation and mutual understanding in the border region. One of our main focus is to promote sustainable development in tourism, hospitality industry and commerce.

Our direct objective is to map out and assess the Linguistic Landscape of the Slovakian-Hungarian cross-border region. Create a comprehensive Linguistic Landscape policy and systematic implementation strategy. Develop online services multilingual menu generator (Hungarian, Slovakian, English, German), also develop Slovakian-Hungarian e-learning language course. We will launch linguistic awareness certification system.

We target local and cross-border regional businesses working in tourism, hospitality industry, commerce also their staff also local governments, supermarket chains with our project. To reach our goal to increase the bilingualism in the cross-border region’s population.

Our project accomplish using the Linguistic Landscape methodology a thorough research in the border region. We base on this research our studies and policies also our e-learning courses. We will place 50-50 piece bilingual info table in Slovakia and Hungary. We will install 20-20 bilingual menus in restaurants or cafés in Hungary and Slovakia. We will have online services bilingual e-learning language course and multilingual restaurant menu generator. We will launch a Linguistic awareness certification system.
